In aerospace, insulation coatings are needed to use ultralight materials (e.g., carbon fiber composite) in applications with high temperature peaks or to increase fire resistance. By combining an innovative silica-based material together with the properties of Polysil, Thermal Shield a coating with very low thermal conductivity was developed.
Polysil Thermal Shield test results show a thermal conductivity of 0.050 W/mK.

With the growing interest in epoxy-based carbon fiber composites for aerospace and automotive structural applications, it is important to improve the fire resistance properties of these materials.
In this context, Nanoprom Chemicals has developed Polysil TSR (Thermal Shield Resin), a silica-based resin that offers excellent high temperature resistance and very low thermal conductivity. This resin makes it possible to fabricate carbon-fiber reinforced silicon matrix composites that have excellent heat resistance.
Because of the low thermal conductivity, it can be used in aerospace airframes, missile systems, hot parts of vehicles or as fire bulkheads.

Due to the high melting temperature of the quartz fiber and the excellent chemical affinity with Polysil TSR, Nanoprom can make a composite with excellent mechanical properties, resistant to chemicals, resistant to very high temperatures, and with excellent RF transparency, making it usable for high-performance radome applications as well.
Thermal Shield Blanket can be used as a high-temperature resistant material for thermal protection of mechanical parts or as fire protection of load-bearing structures in construction.
Important application areas for this product are the automotive industry and the power industry (engines and turbines). It can be used on industrial ovens or industrial machines in general, or as insulation for battery packs, and in general for any application that needs a material that can thermally insulate and resist direct flame.
